What is Denosyl?
Denosyl is an anti-oxident that has been shown to increase hepatic Glutathione levels in the liver of dogs and cats. Denosyl's activity goes far beyond just increasing Glutathione levels. It has been shown to protect liver cells from cell death and may be useful in cell repair and healing.
Denosyl is recommended to improve hepatic glutathione levels to help maintain and protect liver function. 45% of dogs and cats with liver problems have a low hepatic glutathione level. Denosyl has been shown to increase hepatic glutathione levels in cats and dogs. Glutathione is a potent antioxidant that protects hepatic cells.
Denosyl SD4 has been shown to increase hepatic glutathione levels in cats and dogs. Glutathione, a potent antioxidant, is the liver's main detoxifier that protects hepatic cells from toxins and death. A recent analysis of 31 dogs and cats with various severe liver problems showed that 45% of these animals had low hepatic glutathione levels. Denosyl SD4 is recommended to improve hepatic glutathione levels in compromised patients to help maintain and protect liver function. Denosyl SD4 may also be used in other conditions of tissue oxidant injury and RBC fragility caused by certain toxins or drugs which are related to reduced glutathione concentrations. Denosyl SD4 (S-adenosylmethionine) is a nutritional supplement for use to aid in managing a variety of liver problems in dogs and cats. Possible applications of Denosyl SD4 as adjunct therapy could include dogs and cats with elevated liver enzymes and suffering from: hepatic lipidosis, breed-specific chronic hepatitis, feline liver disease, Cushing's Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Pancreatitis, etc.
Denosyl SD4 is available in two sizes: 30 tablets, 90 mg each for cats and small dogs and 30 tablets, 225 mg each for dogs over 25 lbs.

For optimal absorption, tablets should be given on an empty stomach, at least one hour before feeding, as the presence of food decreases the absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine. When giving more than one tablet, the total daily dose may be provided as a morning and evening dose. Denosyl SD4 is the patented, pure and stabilized 1,4-butanedisulfonate salt of S-Adenosylmethionine. It is the only brand of S-Adenosylmethionine researched in U.S. trials for veterinary use in dogs and cats. Denosyl SD4 is available in two strengths: as an enteric coated 90 mg and 225mg tablet of active S-Adenosylmethionine. Storage: Store in a cool dry place. Because S-Adenosylmethionine is extremely hygroscopic, tablets are individually sealed in foil blister packs. Keep tablets in original blister pack until used. Tablets are sensitive to moisture and extreme heat and should not be split or crumbled.
